Our most successful fundraiser was the "Funniest, Wackiest, Strangest Hats."
In the 1980's, while living in South Africa, I was the organizer for the Rolls Royce and Bentley Owner's Car Club of South Africa.
The members of the club were very creative and certainly made this a funny fundraiser to remember. There were 60 entries.
The members were very willing to give a donation to enter. To make this so very successful we had the hotel donate a function room as well a wonderful meal to each of the members. We had two of the funniest comedians entertain us as well as a 4 piece band which kept us laughing the whole afternoon. The wines that were donated were welcomed by us all.
The prizes were all donated.
1st prize: 7 day cruise
2nd prize: 4 day stay at a resort
3rd prize: Dinner for 4 at a top restaurant.
An enjoyable day was had by all. We laughed until we thought we would burst.
A win-win for everyone participating. Most important a very worthwhile charity was the beneficiary.
The suppliers of service were able to give generously to charity as well as get the exposure that they were looking for.
